IAEWS Newsletter: Missing Out, Missing In or Losing Out

A Short but Informative Newsletter Covering These Topics:

• The IAEWS Newsletter—maybe you don’t read every edition, but someone should
• 2010/11 Member Directory—make sure your organization’s information is up-to-date
• Spring Member Congress—the longer you wait to sign up, the more it costs

The IAEWS Newsletter

It’s certainly not Hemingway or Joyce, but the IAEWS newsletter keeps you up-to-date on the Association’s activities and key issues in the online employment services industry.  It’s sent to the registered representatives of every Member of record, usually on a weekly basis.

We try and keep the newsletter short and to the point, so you get as much out of it as possible in the shortest possible amount of time.  We know, however, that no single person can get to every edition that’s published.  Rather than run the risk of missing out on something important, therefore, we suggest that you register at least several employees to receive the publication.  It costs nothing to do so, helps educate your coworkers and staff, and ensures that you’re on top of what’s going on.

Send the names and email addresses of everyone you want to add to the IAEWS newsletter distribution list to Peter Weddle at director@employmentwebsites.org.

2010/2011 Member Directory

One of the key benefits of IAEWS membership is the ability to network with your peers.  That happens at our Congresses, of course, but also in private meetings and phone calls.  The latter is made possible, at least in part, by the Association’s biannual Member Directory.  It's the one publication you don't want to be misssing in.

The Association Directory is a print publication that is distributed only to active Members of the Association and to select journalists who write about our industry.

The 2010/2011 Member Directory will go to press in the second quarter of this year.  To ensure that your organization’s information is up-to-date, please submit the following, not later than March 5, 2010If we don’t receive updated information for your organization by that date, we will assume that the information we have on record is correct and publish that.

• Name of the Organization:
• Point of Contact:
• Position/Title:
• Postal Address:
• Telephone Number:
• Email Address:
• Area(s) of Web-Site Specialization: (if appropriate)
• Web-Sites:
• Media point of contact:
• Mailing address:

Congress Sponsorships: Two-fers That Are Too Good to Pass Up

Why just attend the Congress, when you can use it to your advantage in two ways: You can use it to reinforce your own knowledge and to reinforce your organization’s brand.

How can you do that?  You have a number of options:

There are two Double Value Congress Sponsorships:
• The Gold Sponsorship: ERE (more still available)
• The Silver Sponsorship: TopUSAJobs.com

Each highlights your organization at BOTH the Spring Member Congress in March and the Fall Member Congress in October, effectively giving you year-long publicity.

The Spring Member Congress Sponsorships include:
• The Keynote Sponsorship (providing the visibility of introducing the Keynote Speaker and your organization to the delegates)
• The Coffee Break Sponsorship
• The Lanyard Sponsorship: Taken—VetJobs
• The Streaming Video: Taken—Boxwood
In addition, there is also a Delegate Packet Insert.

For information on pricing, please contact Peter Weddle at 203.964.1888 or director@employmentwebsites.org.

Don’t delay!  These are extraordinary promotional opportunities and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Your IAEWS Member Benefits

Remember Your Member Working Groups

This is just a reminder that the IAEWS currently supports three Member Working Groups.  They are:
• The Working Group on Customer Privacy & Security, chaired by Carl Braun, Cross-Post.  This group is exploring possible defenses against hacking, malware and other attacks that disrupt business operations and/or threaten customer identity and privacy.
• The Working Group on the OFCCP, co-chaired by Ted Daywalt, VetJobs, and Hope Gurion, CareerBuilder.com.  This group is working with the Department of Labor and the U.S. Congress (through the American Society of Association Executives) to redress the onerous data collection and storage requirements promulgated by this agency for online resume database searching.
• The Working Group on Sourcing Problems with Applicant Tracking Systems, chaired by Jason Whitman, Indeed.  This group is dealing with the inaccurate identification of candidate sources provided by the vast majority of today’s applicant tracking systems, a situation that undermines customer confidence in our industry and misdirects customer investments in recruiting.
• The Working Group on Strategic Engagement with Advertising Agencies, co-chaired by Shelly Mudd of TopUSAJobs.com and Cindy Songne of Monster.  This group seeks to establish business practices which promote successful relationships between employment web sites and advertising agencies.

These groups look for strategies and initiatives that leverage the collective strength of the Association and its membership.  They are open to all Members and meet (usually by teleconference) at the discretion of the participants and the group’s chair.  If you would like more information about any of the groups or would like to join one, please contact the appropriate chairperson.  Contact information is in your Member Directory.
