Dot Jobs (.jobs) Meeting
As has been reported by ERE and the blogosphere, DirectEmployers has convened a meeting to explain the goals of its .jobs initiative. The meeting will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2010 in Indianapolis. IAEWS Executive Director Peter Weddle was invited and plans to attend.
No formal agenda has been announced for the meeting, but representatives of Employ Media, the company which holds of the .jobs charter, will be present.
A number of IAEWS Members have expressed concern about the new initiative. The issues range from Employ Media and SHRM’s departure from their original representation that the .jobs extension would be sold only to employers and only for their own recruiting efforts to the impact of flooding an industry that is already highly fragmented with thousands of new sites.
If you have one or more questions that you would like the Executive Director to pose at the meeting, please email it to director@employmentwebsites.org by COB today. (We apologize for the short notice, but the storms that roared through Connecticut yesterday left us without power or Internet access for over a day.)
Peter will provide a full report on the meeting to the membership in next week’s newsletter.
